How to vote in Williams Lake

Election day: Saturday, October 17, 2026, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Advance voting: Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Election day: Marie Sharpe Elementary School gym, 260 Cameron Street.

Advance voting: City Hall, 450 Mart Street.

Curbside voting is available at both advance voting days and on election day. Call the City's election office for details.

Bring two pieces of ID that together show who you are and where you live. At least one must have your signature. Photo ID isn't required.

Documents the City accepts include:

• B.C. driver's licence
• BC Services Card (photo or non-photo)
• First Nation or Métis citizenship card
• ICBC insurance certificate
• BC CareCard
• Social Insurance Number card
• Citizenship card
• Property tax notice
• Credit or debit card
• Utility bill

• 18 or older on the day you register
• A Canadian citizen
• Living in B.C. for at least six months before you register
• Living in the City of Williams Lake — or, if you live elsewhere in B.C., owning property in the city for at least 30 days (a non-resident property elector)

Non-resident property electors also need proof that they own the property, plus written consent from a majority of the owners if there's more than one. Property owned by a company doesn't qualify, and you vote only once no matter how many properties you own.

Not on the voters list? You can register when you vote: at advance voting, on election day, or with a mail ballot.

Anyone who qualifies to vote can vote by mail instead. Ask for a mail ballot at City Hall (Corporate Services, 450 Mart Street) or through the City's election office.

Williams Lake elects a mayor and six city councillors. You can vote for up to six council candidates. You don't have to pick six. If you're voting for Rafiullah, look for SAHIBZADA, Rafiullah on the council list. The ballot shows his name without the “Dr.” title.
